Raphael Onyedika has been ruled out of Club Brugge’s Belgian Super Cup clash against Union St. Gilloise after falling ill.

Club Brugge confirmed the midfielder’s absence when they unveiled their 22-man squad on the club’s official website, stating that illness prevented him from being included.

The 25-year-old, whose contract has just one year remaining, has been strongly linked with a move away from the Belgian Pro League champions this summer.

The Nigeria international is reportedly close to joining Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt after agreeing personal terms with the German club.

Frankfurt are now said to be in advanced talks with Club Brugge over a deal worth around €10 million for the defensive midfielder.

Onyedika played a pivotal role in Club Brugge’s Belgian Pro League title triumph last season, securing his second league crown since joining the club.

He has also lifted the Belgian Cup and the Belgian Super Cup once each during his time with Blauw-Zwart.
