The abduction of prospective NYSC members remained a major development on Saturday as families of 20 Oyo graduates said kidnappers gave them 24 hours to raise N1bn ransom.

In a separate update on the same incident, Imo police said they had located the suspected abductors’ camp but delayed a raid because intelligence indicated that the area was mined with improvised explosive devices.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike also has criticised former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi over his claim that President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies contributed to his mother’s death.

Meanwhile, Labour Party youth leaders proposed consultations with the APC and groups supporting Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, although they said the proposal remained subject to further discussions and consensus.

Also making headlines, BUA Group Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu visited Tinubu with his son to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
